The TPLF dictatorial regime has made yet another self-serving political move to curve out Finfinne (Addis Ababa), the capital city, from Oromiyaa. Based on its usual rule of the jungle, the TPLF has given an ultimatum to the Oromo Peoples Democratic Organization (OPDO) to move out its office and all department offices of the Oromiyaa Regional State from the capital city to Adama Town. In essence, this eviction order is not so much directed to the OPDO as much as it is to the Oromo people. The order issued is meant to disown the Oromo people a city they call their capital, Finfinne, a hear land of their country.
In this regard, the mission of the TPLF order is quite obvious to the Oromos, and undoubtedly it is so to members of the international community who have been closely following the political moves of the TPLF over the last 12 years. It is to deny the Oromos and their political and socio-economic institutions a viable centre that could be a gateway to the outside world. It is to relegate slowly but surely Oromos to the periphery, where the international community would have far less glimpse of the political, economic and social activities and conditions of the Oromo people. And, of course, the ultimate goal of the TPLF regime is to legitimize the alteration of the territorial integrity of Oromiyaa: that is, to delineate Finfinne to another jurisdiction outside Oromiyaa.
Understanding this glaring fact and considering the audacity of the TPLF to order them to pack and leave their own city and its down right contempt for them, the OPDO and its leadership must have vehemently rejected the eviction order. Its failure to fight at least for the right granted in Article 49 (5) of the constitution it upholds is tantamount to submission and servitude. Furthermore, it is yet again attesting to the Oromo people that OPDO is indeed a Trojan Horse of the TPLF rendering its service loyally in the TPLF project of arresting and/or dismantling the socio-economic matrix of Oromiyaa.
As a colonial force bent on impeding the socio-economic progress of the Oromo nation, the TPLF action of disowning the Oromo people their country has begun no sooner than it came to power. Its first target was Wallo region. Irrespective of the historical, socio-economic, cultural, linguistic, and geographic ties of the Wallo region to the rest of the regions of Oromiyaa, and despite the outcry of the people of Wallo and the Oromos at large, the TPLF dictatorial regime through coercing the Councils of the Transitional Government of Ethiopia decreed the Wallo region to dissociate from Oromiyaa and be part of the jurisdiction of the Amhara Regional State. Again through the same decision-making process of its government and by completely denying the Oromo people any say on the fate of Finfinne, the TPLF rendered it a chartered city status with its own separate administrative body. The grand objective of this TPLF move was to limit or at best curtail the Oromo people from the role of administering the city within the Oromiyaa State. In addition, it has in numerous occasions given out the Oromo land to other ethnic groups neighboring Oromiyaa in order to meet its double edge objectives: a) to instigate clashes between Oromos and other ethnic group so as to prolong the life of its government and b) to, of course, undermine the territorial integrity of Oromiyaa.
The series of land grab decree of the Wayane regime is nothing but a classical ploy of colonialism. The recent eviction order of the regime must be seen from this context and be fought back by the Oromo people and all freedom loving souls of the world.
It must be clear to Wayane that it may at will distort or redraw the Oromo territory today, but it can never alter the entitlement of the Oromo country to the Oromo nation. With the concerted struggle of the Oromo people, every iota of annexed Oromo land shall be regained. All its eviction orders and decrees become null and void. The rightful eviction, the departure of Wayane to Auxum, will be effected through bitter struggle of the Oromo people for self-determination.
We uphold all recent resolutions, statements, and memorandums released by Oromo political and civic organizations condemning the atrocities of Meles Zenawi government. Standing with our people and various Oromo organizations, we vehemently condemn the recent eviction order of the TPLF regime.
We call upon the Oromo people to rise up and fight for every inch of Oromia including Finfinne, the heartland of our country.
Finfinne remains the capital city of Oromiyaa!! Unity is Strength!!
Oromia Shall Be Free!!
